Shipping Pacific Crest Trail Resupply Packages to U.S. Post Offices

The easiest way to send Pacific Crest Trail resupply packages is by “General Delivery” to Post Offices near the trail. Post Offices will hold your package for up to 30 days. All you need is a photo ID to pick up your package when you arrive.

Box Labeling: It is helpful to write your last name and ETA in big letters on all sides of the box. This makes it easier for postal employees pick it out from the large number of hiker boxes they receive.

Shipping Methods: You can use any USPS shipping service, but Priority Mail is the best choice for “bounce boxes” because it includes free forwarding for unopened boxes.

In addition to Post Offices, many hiker-friendly businesses and “trail angels” also accept Pacific Crest Trail resupply packages. These locations make it possible to resupply in remote areas where there is no post office or grocery store (and to pick up boxes outside of normal postal hours, such as on weekends.)
