About Blackwoods Press
Blackwoods Press was founded in 2007 by long-distance backpacker and cartographer Erik Asorson, aka “Erik the Black.” We publish maps and guidebooks that include all the essential trail data you need to plan a long-distance backpacking trip, in a lightweight easy-to-use format.
Our Maps and Atlases for the Pacific Crest Trail, John Muir Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail have been used by thousands of hikers to plan their hikes and navigate the trails. If you like to know where you’re going, and where to find essential features and services, but don’t like reading a lot of commentary or carrying a lot of weight, then our minimalist trail guides are for you!
